Here are some tips on how to plan an affordable beach wedding that doesn’t involve getting covered in sand!
Getting married on a beautiful Sunshine Coast beach is a dream of many recently engaged couples. Yet the thought of being sand blown or having your guests try and walk through sand in heels can be a bit off putting.
Luckily the Sunshine Coast has many locations where you can be married just a few steps away from the rolling surf and you won’t break the bank, or get sand where you don’t want it. For locations controlled by the local Council there are some small fees involved. Here is a link to the Council website that lists the popular beach locations and includes access to the form you will need to complete to book a spot.
With this option you will be very DIY or you can engage a hire company to provide chairs, tables etc if that is easier for you.
A huge consideration is what will you do if it rains? So we highly recommend booking a spot that has some undercover areas close by – just in case! A BBQ shelter is usually all you need if it is an intimate wedding.
The next option is to save yourself a lot of hassle and book a ceremony spot in one of the many Surf Clubs located up and down the coast. Most are very cost effective and you have the added bonus of being able to celebrate after the ceremony at the same location at a reasonable cost.
Some clubs are very busy, so it is hard to get that ‘intimate’ feel. One club that is a bit off the beaten track and offers a great range of options, is the Kawana Surf Club. Here is a link to their very informative wedding PDF

Jody and Tony picked the perfect winters day for their wedding. The sun was shinning and there was just a tiny breeze to help keep Tony cool as he waited for his bride to arrive.
As Jody walked down the isle with her son there were a few tears and even a few more when these two exchanged their vows.
You could feel the love flowing from these two during the ceremony. Such a wonderful couple and a wedding to remember.
